With soaring mountain peaks and cool turquoise lakes, the Canadian Rockies is home to some of the worlds most spectacular scenery. On this holiday you will first travel into the heart of the Rockies on board the iconic Rocky Mountaineer, enjoying first class cuisine from their signature glass domed carriages. You will then pick up a rental car and travel through the Rockies at your own pace, stopping at viewpoints and waterfalls whilst exploring famous destinations such as Lake Louise and Banff.

Day 1-3
Vancouver
Arrive at Vancouver International Airport and transfer independently to your downtown hotel. The next two days are yours to explore this enchanting coastal city. Take a stroll round Stanley Park, head over to Granville Island to discover a world of food, art and culture or head over to the North Shore and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, hanging 70 metres over the Capilano River.
Day 4
Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops
Travel on board the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia's interior. From inside Rocky Mountaineer's signature glass dome carriages you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains, to the desert-like interior.
Day 5
Rocky Mountaineer to Jasper
Your journey continues north and then eastwards as you follow the back of the North Thompson River. Soon you find yourself surrounded by the Rocky and Cariboo Mountain ranges and pass by Mount Robson which, at 3,954 metres high, is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.
Day 6-7
Jasper
Pick up your rental car in the morning, you have two free days to explore Jasper National Park. Drive to is the famous Maligne Lake where you can take a boat cruise onto Spirit Island, along the way stop at the dramatic Maligne Canyon and viewpoint over Medicine Lake. Be on the lookout for wildlife, Jasper is known for the herd of Elk that graze on the outskirts of town.
Day 8
Icefields Parkway
Travel from Jasper to Lake Louise on one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. After a photo stop at the Athabasca Falls, stop at the Columbia Icefield and ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier before stepping out on to the Glacier Skywalk for unobstructed views of the Sunwapta Valley. Further down the Icefields Parkway are spectacular viewpoints over Bow and Peyto Lake. Cross over Rogers Pass and into Yoho National Park, stopping the night at the stunning Emerald Lake Lodge.
Day 9
Lake Louise
This morning you will wake up with the spectacular Emerald Lake and surrounding mountains as the backdrop. Tear yourself away to explore Yoho National Park, making stops at Natural Bridge and Takakkaw Falls, before taking the short drive back up Rogers Pass to your next destination, the postcard perfect Lake Louise. This afternoon, paddle the lake by canoe, take a stroll by the lakeside or simply sit back and take it all in!
Day 10-12
Banff
For the journey to Banff, we recommend leaving the highway and driving on the Bow Valley Parkway, stopping at viewpoints over Morant’s Curve and Castle Mountain and talking a walk at Johnstone Canyon. You will have two free days to explore Banff and the surrounding National Park. If you want a day off driving, then Banff has plenty of attractions in easy access of the town centre such as Bow Falls and the Banff Gondola which whisks visitors up to the top of Sulphur Mountain to enjoy incredible views of the 6 mountain ranges that surround the town.
Day 13
Calgary
Spend the morning taking in the last of the spectacular Rocky Mountains, perhaps take a cruise on Lake Minnewanka before taking the short drive down to Calgary. Also known as Cowtown, Calgary is a welcoming and cosmopolitan city steeped in western culture. In downtown Calgary take time to admire the historical buildings that line 8th Avenue, indulge in some last minute shopping or simply relax in one of the many local breweries.
Day 14
Fly Home
After some last-minute shopping and sight-seeing, your epic Canadian adventure has come to an end. Transfer independently to Calgary International Airport for your flight home.
