Your day-to-day plan

Halifax
Arrive in Halifax, collect your car and make your way to your downtown hotel. You will have the remainder of the day to relax and start visiting Nova Scotia’s capital and its many attractions. We would recommend wandering on the boardwalk and treating yourself to one of many sea food restaurants. With one of the world’s longest boardwalks, you will have plenty of choice of things to see and do from museums to casinos or even national historic sites.

Lunenburg
Today, drive south to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg. En route we recommend you stop at the world-famous fishing village of Peggy’s Cove for iconic pictures of its lighthouse. Once in Lunenburg, walk around the old town and admire the city’s architecture as it’s considered to be the best surviving planned British colonial town in North America. Make sure to visit its unique shops and award-winning restaurants during your stay.

Annapolis Royal
Today’s scenic drive will take you through Kejimkujik National Park, where we recommend you take the time to explore its wilderness and learn about the Mi’kmaw culture. Continue to Annapolis Royal and make sure to stop at Fort Anne National Historic Site to learn more about settlers’ history. If you have some time left, why not also visit the Port-Royal National Historic Site nearby so you can jump back in time and discover a reconstruction of one of the earliest European settlements in North America.

St. Andrews
Board the ferry from Digby over to Saint John and look out for wildlife including whales whilst crossing the Bay of Fundy. Once in New Brunswick, drive south to one of the province’s premier holiday destinations. Wander around the historic downtown, visit historic summer homes or embark on a whale watching excursion on the Bay of Fundy, there is plenty of activities for the next couple of days in St. Andrews, also known as St. Andrews by-the-Sea.

Hopewell Cape
Drive along the southern coast of New Brunswick, we recommend you take scenic roads for the stunning vistas. The Fundy Trail Provincial Park and Fundy National Park Of Canada are worth the detour and make for a great drive. Once you’ve arrived at Hopewell Cape, check the tides schedule and plan two visits: one at high tide and one at low tide. The Bay of Fundy has the world's highest tidal range, which can be admired perfectly from Hopewell Rocks.

Charlottetown
Head over to Charlottetown but first, make sure to drive to Shediac, the lobster capital of the world. This small village is known for lobster fishing, live lobster tanks and the world’s largest lobster, which you can take a picture with! Continue onto Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province, and discover its many fascinating attractions such as its long sandy beaches backed with red cliffs or the historic streets of Charlottetown.

Pictou
Discover Prince Edward Island’s Points East Coastal Drive, which offers 50 beaches to choose from and the warmest waters north of the Carolinas for the perfect beach day. You will then board the ferry and head over to Nova Scotia where you will overnight in Pictou. Located on the Northumberland Shore, the town comes alive in summer with outdoor musical performances and art shows amongst many other activities.

Chéticamp
Today, you will drive north to the west entrance of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park on the world-famous Cabot Trail. The fishing village of Chéticamp offers the perfect backdrop for beautiful sunsets, delicious local seafood cuisine and the chance to learn more about Acadian culture and traditions. If you haven’t already, you can also embark on a whale watching trip from here.

Baddeck
Take the full day to explore the Cabot Trail on today’s drive from Chéticamp to Baddeck. We recommend you stop along its numerous hiking trails and viewpoints, such as the Skyline Trail or the Cape Smokey Gondola for breathtaking views. Once in Baddeck make sure not to miss out on the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site or head over to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site to learn more about French colonial life.

Charlos Cove
Go off-the-beaten-track and discover Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. Once you’ve crossed the Canso Causeway, drive south towards Charlos Cove where you will stay for the night. From here, you will have the option to discover either or both Bonnet Lake Barrens Wilderness Area and Canso Coastal Barrens Wilderness Area. Both areas are protected due to their rugged landscape and unique flora and fauna.

Halifax
On your way to Halifax drive south through the coastal roads of Eastern Shore and enjoy some pristine wilderness and white sand beaches. Once you’re back in Halifax, visit some of the attractions you didn’t have time to visit on your arrival, the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a must see. Enjoy the last night of your holiday and treat yourself to one of their many trending restaurants.

Fly Home
Depending on your flight schedule, you may need to check out of your hotel early and proceed to the airport or you will have a full day to explore more of Halifax before your overnight flight. Why not visit Dartmouth, which is situated just a short ferry ride and offers great views of Halifax’s skyline from their boardwalk? You can also visit the picturesque Fisherman’s Cove and take a boat trip to McNabs Islands. With so many attractions nearby, filling your day won’t be a problem.
