Day 1-2
Anchorage
Alaska’s largest city offers fine restaurants, museums, shops, theatres, and an excellent music scene. Anchorage offers many flightseeing trips outside the city highlighting Alaska’s wilderness, glaciers, and mountains, including bear viewing trips to Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. Included as part of your stay is the Chinitna Bay bear viewing where a 90-minute flight over the Cook Inlet and past active volcanoes takes you to the shore of Chinitna Bay in Lake Clark National Park. Hear tales of the resident bears and their families from your expert guide and have the rare opportunity to join these amazing animals in their natural habitat.
Day 3
Talkeetna
After collecting your car, make the 2-hour drive north to Talkeetna. As the gateway to Denali National Park for many explorers, Talkeetna is the perfect base to explore the majesty of the park. Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge offers views of the majestic Mt. Denali and the surrounding park from the comfort of their viewing deck. Partake in a 1.5-hour flightseeing tour of Denali with glacier landing. Fly up to six miles from Denali’s summit, descend into the awe-inspiring Ruth Amphitheatre and Great Gorge. View the Tokositna and Ruth Glaciers where you will touch down in the Sheldon Amphitheatre. Take in the stillness of the mountains and lay down your tracks in the pristine white snow. Pass the famous Moose’s Tooth and hanging glaciers as well as the tundra beneath you.
Day 4-6
Denali Backcountry Lodge
Deep within the backcountry of Denali National Park and accessible only by air, lies the Denali Backcountry Lodge. Your 3-night adventure in this exclusive lodge offers the chance to connect with nature. Among the included activities are guided and independent hiking, gold panning, Kantishna history walk, the use of fly-fishing equipment and shuttles to and from Wonder Lake.
Day 7-9
Fairbanks
Visit University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Museum of the North to see hand-carved Alaska Native art and artifacts as well as the state’s largest gold display. View original installations about Alaska’s dinosaurs as well as other informative exhibits on the regions culture, history, geology, and wildlife. Fly north from Fairbanks on an Arctic Circle Air Adventure and wonder at the story of the vast and remote land below. Lean how the community of Coldfoot continue to sustain their lifestyles and cultures and how fold mining activity is still active 100 years after the yellow metal first brought newcomers rushing north. See the Trans Alaska Pipeline symbolizing the immense changes brought to Alaska’s Arctic by the discovery of gold just over 30 years ago.
Day 10-11
Lodge at Black Rapids
Located just 38-miles outside of Delta Junction is the Lodge at Black Rapids. This secluded luxury lodge is nestled in the Eastern Alaska Range and offers the perfect blend of accessibility and untouched wilderness. from the property access wild rivers, glaciers, mountains and wilderness.
Day 12
Tok
Known as the ‘Sled Dog Capital of Alaska’, Tok offers many dog sled tours during the summer months. Visit the Tok Mainstreet Visitors Center for more information on the state’s endless activities and wildlife.
Day 13-15
Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge
Located in the remote northern Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge enables visitors to access the pristine wilderness of the park without the need to fly in making it truly accessible for all types of visitors. The lodge offers fully plumbed guest cabins and yurts as well as locally sourced cuisine, a warm home from home setting with authentic Alaskan hospitality.
Day 16
Alaska Glacier Lodge
Located just 45 minutes outside of Anchorage, Alaska Glacier Lodge feels like a remote wilderness experience. Tucked away in the Knick River Valley the lodge offers mountain and river views for those wishing to be nearer the big city. The lodge offers plenty of activities from flightseeing to ATV rides and glacier dog sledding. Included as part of your itinerary is the helicopter and glacier dog sled tour with lower glacier landing. This 2-hour tour will fly you over glaciers by helicopter up into the mountains where your dog musher is waiting on you. Enjoy a whole hour with your own dog team and after listen to stories of dog races and spend time with the canine athletes. The second part of the flightseeing takes you to the lower glacier where you can explore the blue melt pools, crevasses, and other glacial features.
Day 17
Fly Home
Today you make your way back to Anchorage airport for your flight home, keep your eyes peeled for those last glimpses of wildlife along the way.
